First, go from 4awg, to a pair of *8* awg. 2 awg is LARGER than 4 and it wouldn't make any sense to step to larger wire after the battery. 2 - you want a high current fuse within 12" of the battery.. if you DIY and forget this step, you may live to regret it severely. Get an inline AN fuse, ~100 amp. At your junction box that you reduce to dual 8gauge wires, fuse. ~50 amp fuses on each line - every time you change wire gauge, you should fuse. I'm running 4ga streetwires to a streetwires junction box, to dual 8 ga.. but I'm only using one side because I only put one of my amps in the car.
